Forming planets in large scale vortices Par Héloïse Meheut Salle L269 (ex D18), 2e étage, à l'ENS, 24 rue Lhomond, 13:30
One of the most challenging steps in planet formation theory is the one leading to the formation of planetesimals of kilometre size. A promising scenario involves the existence of vortices able to concentrate a large amount of dust and grains in their centres and to accelerate the growth of the solids. This scenario left unclear the formation of these vortices. Here we are interested in a formation process for the vortices that was initially studied in the context of microquasars accretion disks and jet formation: the Rossby wave instability. In this talk, I will show that this instability is a a powerful mechanism to form such structures in a global 3D disk. I will present simulations of this instability showing the 3D configuration of the vortices and how the dynamical coupling between dust and gas can lead to the concentration of the solids in these large scale structures.
