Stars formation

It has been shown a few years ago that non-thermal energy is responsible for the inhibition of the growth of gravitational instability (M. Pérault, J.-F. Panis and collaborators in Paris Observatory).

This non-thermal energy is magnetic and turbulent. J.-F. Panis in collaboration with F. Shu (University of Berkeley) is modelling the injection of non-thermal energy into magnetized molecular clouds by the supersonic jets emitted by very young stellar objects.
